Amanda was born in Freehold Township New Jersey to Olga and Konstantin Anisimov who moved from Moscow Russia in 1998 and worked in finance. The family later moved to Florida so she and her sister could train and she grew up in the Miami area. Her older sister Maria played college tennis for the University of Pennsylvania while studying at the Wharton School and watching Maria first drew Amanda to the sport. Her father Konstantin was her first and longtime coach until his sudden death from a heart attack in August 2019 at age 52. She speaks English and Russian.

Education

Anisimova did not follow a conventional school path. She was home schooled while competing on the junior and professional circuits and turned pro as a teenager. During her 2023 break from the tour she reportedly enrolled at Nova Southeastern University in Florida and has spoken about online courses and a long term interest in medicine. She has not completed a degree.

Junior Career

She started tennis at age five and began working with coach Nick Saviano at eleven. She reached a junior ranking of World number 2 in 2016 and made the French Open girls final that year.
